Who has built forum or blog software?

I have not built forum or blog software but if I had the knowledge and skills to do so, I would jump at the chance.

It is surprising how many people are always looking for new software.

I haven't created any of the forum or blog software myself, but I have customized to some extent some open-source like phpBB.

My coding skills arent good enough. Well, I have posted some coding on this forum, but it's more like coding homework for me.

Unfortunately, I have not built forum or blog software and it's simply because I don't have the knowledge of how to get it done. Also, even if I do, I'm not sure if I could build something as good as XenForo or WordPress.

Creating a blog and/or forum software would be good for a coding resume, even if it wasn't the best software or would never become popular.

And I've thought about it, but I'm not at the level to do it yet.

I wonder if people who aren't into web development think a developer built his/her sites by-hand?

I know a lot of developers who also use CMS to build websites. They build from scratch only when they specifically get paid to do it.
