Are there too many choices in forum software?

With so many choices, how can older or newer software survive?

Now, of course, it's cool to see forum software expanding, but what is a realistic assessment of the current marketing situation?

There are multiple choices for forums, people can choose based on their interest in certain software or based on the features they want in their forums. I am not sure if new forum software have a chance to survive in the market/. That's because forums are dying breed.

I don't think there's too many choices, I think it's a good thing we have different options to fit our needs. If you need more than just a forum, and want a paid software you could go with vBulletin since they have everything at a cheaper price than Invision. If you just need a forum, phpBB for example has you covered.

Why do you support these choices?
