I only use phpbb, I haven't tried myBB before but they have been around for quite a long time. I've seen a lot of forums that uses the software. It seem really impressive.

The default theme isn't mobile ready, but that's easily fixed with certain free and paid themes.

Well this is not only peculiar to MyBB. It’s with other free forum software because once you are able to pick the right theme, it becomes more user friendly even on mobile.

Well this is not only peculiar to MyBB. It’s with other free forum software because once you are able to pick the right theme, it becomes more user friendly even on mobile.
SMF might also have mobile unfriendly themes still. I'm not sure.

SMF has many mobile friendly themes but phpBB is way better. The library of themes in phpbb is unmatched.
